🏰 About the event
On June 13, 2026, you can experience a living historical event at Nya Älvsborg Fortress, where the dramatic naval battle from 1719 is recreated. During the summer of 1719, the Danish-Norwegian naval hero Peter Tordenskjold led a bold attack on Gothenburg's defenses, including the fortress. The Swedish garrison, led by Captain Johan Abraham Lillie, defended the fortress with courage and refused to surrender despite heavy bombardment. The siege, which lasted several days, caused significant damage to the fortress but ultimately ended in a Swedish victory.

During the event you can meet soldiers from Sweden, Norway and Denmark in their historical uniforms, explore the "enemy fleet" in the harbor and witness a dramatic infantry attack on the hornworks. The event also offers smaller historical activities, a small fortress museum, a café and a restaurant to enrich your experience. We look forward to welcoming you to this living history experience!
