12:00 – Naval Battle Begins
A dramatic sea attack from the ocean with authentic ships. The fortress defends valiantly against the Danish fleet.

13:00 – Meet the Soldiers
Encounter soldiers from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark in their historical uniforms.

13:00 – Visit the Enemy Fleet
Explore the "enemy fleet" in the harbor. Walk around the fortress and listen to the digital guide or book a guided tour on-site.

13:30 – Associations Present Themselves
All participating associations present themselves in the courtyard.

14:30 – Infantry Assault on the Hornwork
Enemy infantry attempts to take the fortress on the outer courtyard (hornwork).

Throughout the Day
Smaller historical activities, café, and restaurant are open.

🏰 About the Event
On June 14–15, 2025, experience a living history event at New Älvsborg Fortress, where the dramatic 1719 naval battle is recreated. In the summer of 1719, Danish-Norwegian naval hero Peter Tordenskjold led a bold attack on Gothenburg's defenses, including the fortress. The Swedish garrison, commanded by Captain Johan Abraham Lillie, defended the fortress with courage, refusing to surrender despite heavy bombardment. The siege lasted several days, causing significant damage to the fortress but ultimately ending in a Swedish victory.

During the event, you can meet soldiers from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark in their historical uniforms, explore the "enemy fleet" in the harbor, and witness a dramatic infantry assault on the hornwork. The event also features smaller historical activities, a café, and a restaurant to enrich your experience. We look forward to welcoming you to this immersive historical experience!

Access: The fortress is located on an island in Gothenburg's harbor, accessible by ferry.
Weather: The event takes place outdoors; dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

Departure: Eriksberg Pier 4, 417 63 Gothenburg. At 9:30 AM. Boat ride: 30 minutes.
Return: 6:30 PM, arrival at Eriksberg around 7:00 PM.

Departure: Arendal, dock Fästningsvägen 16 (ample parking available). At 10:15 AM. Boat ride: 10 minutes.
Throughout the day, the boat departs regularly between Arendal and New Älvsborg Fortress.
Return trips: From 10:15 AM and throughout the day between Arendal and New Älvsborg Fortress.
Last return trip: Departure at 6:30 PM from New Älvsborg Fortress.
